Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy uses a fine camera passed through the cervix to examine the inside of the uterus, and can treat polyps, fibroids, adhesions and a uterine septum at the same time. Laparoscopy is keyhole surgery through small abdominal incisions, used to examine the uterus, tubes, ovaries and pelvic cavity.

Both are usually performed as day-case procedures under general anaesthesia. Laparoscopy can treat endometriosis, adhesions and ovarian cysts and is also used to check that the fallopian tubes are open. Your doctor will explain the findings, the recovery period and any restrictions afterwards.
